Dr. Kearley was appointed as Honors Director in August of 2016. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984 with degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. After working in industry for two years, Dr. Kearley earned his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in organic chemistry in 1992. This was followed by a post-doctoral position at Duke University. Before coming to FSU in 2005, Dr. Kearley previously taught at Creighton University (tenure, 1999) and Sonoma State University. Throughout his career, Dr. Kearley has received numerous teaching awards, been awarded two research grants from the National Institutes of Health, published seven research papers, and has mentored thirty-five undergraduate research students.
Dr. Kearley is excited to be named the Honors Director at Florida State University and he looks forward to working with the talented staff to enhance the educational and extra-curricular opportunities for the FSU Honors students.
Outside of FSU Dr. Kearley is married and he has two daughters, one of which attends FSU.
