What are the criteria for invitation to the FSU Honors Program?
Primary admission into the FSU Honors Program is by invitation only. Our minimum criteria for admission are:

Can transfer students be in the University Honors Program?
Transfer students are not considered for admission into the University Honors program.
Any student entering the University as a transfer student may be eligible for the Honors in the Major program. Interested students are encouraged to visit the Honors in the Major website at www.honorsinthemajor.fsu.edu or email honors@fsu.edu.
How does FSU calculate my GPA?
GPA calculations are determined by the FSU Office of Admissions. Please contact the Office of Admissions with questions regarding GPA calculation.
How do I apply?
Admission into the Florida State University Honors Program is by invitation only. Students meeting our criteria should receive an invitation to apply approximately two to four weeks after receiving their university acceptance letter. Students who petition to be admitted will receive an invitation letter if their petition is successful.
Is there an application fee?
No.
What is the application deadline?
Applications are issued on a rolling admissions basis. Applications should be postmarked by the deadline date indicated in the invitation letter.
What if I lose my application? Can I download another one?
Please send an email to our office requesting a duplicate application if you lose your original. Please include your name and mailing address.
At the present time, our application cannot be downloaded.
My invitation didn't include an application. What should I do?
Please send an email to our office requesting an application if your invitation is lacking that document. Please include your name and mailing address.
I forgot to include my essay or application when I mailed my envelope back to the Honors office. What should I do?
Please mail your any missing documents ASAP to FSU Honors Office, A3600 University Center, Tallahassee, FL 32306-2380.
Please write your name and social security number on the back of the essay.
The application asks for my rank in class, but my school does not rank. What should I do?
Simply write 'school does not rank'. Our office will verify this information.
How long does it take to receive an application decision? Who makes the decision?
Decisions are made by the Honors Admissions Committee and approved by the Director. Decisions are usually mailed out 2-3 weeks after the application/essay deadline indicated in the invitation letter.
How many students will be admitted?
Projected incoming class size for the Honors program is based upon the projected number of total freshmen admitted to FSU for the fall. The number changes from year to year.
