Does the Honors Program offer scholarships or financial aid to incoming students?

The University Honors Program does not administer scholarships or financial aid for incoming students. Please contact the Office of Admissions for information regarding scholarships offered by the University; for information regarding student loans and other scholarship opportunities, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

What are Bess Ward Travel Scholarships?

Bess Ward Travel Scholarships are competitive scholarships offered annually to help cover travel costs and personal expenses for one semester for Honors students attending any of the FSU International Study Centers. Current Honors students can find more information, as well as the Bess Ward application, on Blackboard, under 'Honors Program @ FSU'. What are Honors Thesis Grants?

The FSU Honors Office will award several grants of up to $1,000 each to support research or creative activity leading to an Honors Thesis as part of the Honors in the Major Program. Funding will come from the Bess Ward Endowment, which was established at FSU in 1994 by a bequest from the estate of Bess H. Ward, a 1929 graduate of the Florida State College for Women. The grants are intended to pay for travel (either to perform the research or report the results at a regional, national or international meeting) or expenditures for expense items or small equipment items directly related to the thesis research.

What are Bess Ward Fellowships?

The FSU Honors Office will select five students in the University Honors Program for Bess Ward Fellowships for the academic year. Ward Fellows will be selected on the basis of their achievements in the areas of research, creative activity or community service during their time at FSU. Each Ward Fellow will receive a grant of $800 to support further research, creative activity and community service projects. Funding will come from the Bess Ward Endowment, which was established at FSU in 1994 by a bequest from the estate of Bess H. Ward, a 1929 graduate of the Florida State College for Women. The grants are intended to pay for travel (either to perform project work or report the results at a regional, national or international meeting) or expenditures for expense items or small equipment items directly related to project work.
