Each year, the FSU Honors Office offers students in the University Honors and Honors in the Major programs the chance to compete for the following fellowships and awards:

Bess H. Ward Honors Travel Scholarships
Approximately 30 competitive Bess Ward Honors Travel Scholarships are offered annually to outstanding undergraduate University Honors and Honors in the Major students. These one-time-only Honors Scholarships help cover travel costs and personal expenses for one semester (fall, spring, or summer) for Honors students attending the FSU Study Centers in Ghana, South Africa; Cape Town, South Africa; Seoul, Korea; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; San Jose, Costa Rica; Panama City, Panama; Port of Spain, Trinidad; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Prague, Czech Republic; London, England; Paris, France; Valencia, Spain; Leysin, Switzerland; and multi-location programs.

Stipend amounts vary, depending on the length of the program, but they generally run between $1,200-$1,500 for full semester study-abroad programs and $500-$800 for shorter summer programs. To be eligible students must have completed at least 12 hours of FSU coursework and two Honors courses.

Bess H. Ward Honors Thesis Grant Awards
The Honors Office awards several grants of up to $1,000 each to support research or creative activity leading to an Honors Thesis for students who are in the Honors in the Major Program. The grants are intended to pay for travel (either to perform the research or report the results at a regional, national or international meeting) or expenditures for expense items or small equipment items directly related to the thesis research.
