Honors in the Major provides students the opportunity to engage in graduate level research as an undergraduate with the support of FSU's vast research capabilities. Any FSU student officially admitted to their major is encouraged to participate.

- Students do NOT need to be admitted in the University Honors Program.
- Must be formally accepted into your major at the time of application.
- Must have a 3.200 GPA (FSU AND cumulative, unrounded to the third decimal place) at the end of the semester of application.
- Must have completed at least 60 college credits at the end of the semester of application.
- Must have completed at least 12 FSU credits at the end of the semester of application.
- Must have at least two semesters left before graduation.
- Must be a current FSU student.

Before You Apply:
Step One: Finding a Faculty Director
- Faculty director will be a full-time tenured, tenure-track, or specialized FSU faculty member IN YOUR MAJOR.
- If a specialized faculty member is chosen they must have a terminal degree in their field or must have graduate faculty status.

Step Two: Choosing a Topic
- Proper originality
- Proper scope
- Work with your faculty director to form a working title of your research.
Step Three: Setting Your Timeline
- A minimum of two semesters and six credit hours are needed to earn Honors in the Major.
- Semesters should be consecutive (with exception of summer semesters).
- A total of nine credit hours can be taken for your thesis project.
- Project must be successfully defended before graduation from FSU with your bachelor's degree.
- Some departments have further requirements. Follow up with departmental advisor for clarification.
Step Four: Project Approval
- To officially start, all projects must be approved by the department chair and honors liaison from your major. They will indicate approval by signing your application before you submit it.

- After all signatures are collected, "print" the PDF and download the image to guarantee all signatures are visible.
