Student Reflection on New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Research Project and the 1965 musical, Baker Street:
"It was great working with fellow students to further study this piece. Working with the New York Public Library allowed me to further analyze the importance of 'business' in theatre that arose in the 1960s. In an era with such civil and political unrest, it is interesting to recognize who now entered the theatre, with the evident beginnings of class polarization within the theatre world. The musical of Baker Street is just one example of the representation of the highbrow lifestyle for high-class audience members, which ultimately led to its quick closure."
