Student Reflection on Sherlock Holmes from the 1965 musical, Baker Street:

"I used to know Sherlock Holmes as the witty, emotionally distant, genius detective. Now, I know him as that but also as the fictional manifestation of masculine instrumentality produced by the Cold War era’s emphasis on technological and scientific development. It’s fascinating to learn about the cultural history of musical theatre productions because it helps us to understand their significance as reflections and proponents of changes in society."
